Absenting white

Absenting White is a sculptural representation of melting glacier interlaced with physical and digital materials. The work blends LED screens and casting resin into a video sculpture, simulating as well as dramatizing the process of ice melting. Through its digital apparatus as a time-based component, the melting process is intricately manipulated to accelerate and reverse at times. While the otherworldly texture of the hybrid sculpture melts in loop, it reflects not only the changes through the seasons as glacier does, but also the extent to which its abnormal disappearance in nature occurs so problematically, if not catastrophically.
